Default Mercury 1350 / 1100 what do you guys think?

So I would like to get some feed back on Mercury 1350 and 1100 engines, Im looking to build a new boat and have been talking About putting 1100's in it. But I have heard some neg things. So wondering how many hours are guys getting on these engines?
And why can't Mercury come out with something in the 850 size again?

I would waste my money on Mercury anything. There are too many good builders out there that can do more for less than what Merc will rape you for. My .02 cents. Good luck.

I think it depends on you budget. If you can afford the Merc, considering the fact that after a few yrs you will have approx $100K rebuilds, then they are great. However for alot of folks that rebuild is a major concern and I am afraid that for alot folks it may hurt the resale if prices don't come down. You might consider Precision Marine or Teague, they can make just as much power with great manners and a warranty, and when rebuild time comes it will be much less expensive. Just some thoughts.

You can have a nice pr of 800 hp motors built today for about $100,000 , good solid running engines on pump gas with low compression. Merc is way over priced ....

But Mercury = Resale Value. Look at flightclub, he always has mercury power in and his boats sell.
