finscreenname used one on his 496,,then did it over again,,i would spend the extra money and go forged..look into the f43 if they make them for big block yey..super lite..

I put one in my 496 stroker and it has been great for me.

Personally, I would spend a few hundred more and get a forged crank. If you were sticking with a 4" stroke or it was going in a street car, then maybe. I wouldn't do it with a 4.25" stroke. But that's me. I just don't think it's worth the little bit of money saved for the loss of sleep worrying about the crank. Just my opinion.

Nothing wrong with a Scat crank for a build under 600hp. Yes I smoked my first 496 build because I used the wrong bearings. Standard bearings rub the shoulders of the crank and filled the motor with metal and spun a bearing. Live and learn.

Was just curious.Have used the 9000 series in some small block builds. I know there better than a stock cast iron crank,and stockers will take a beating.Like I said mild build 088 large oval port heads if I can find 2 pair cheap!! hyd flat tappet cam single carb.For a my friend JOHN SR

I ran them a number of years in my 500ish hp na engines. Then added blowers and moved up to around 650hp and snapped one between the 4/5 main caps during 2nd season with blowers. I'd spend the extra for forged as well, you never know down the road what may be done to the engine hp wise.
