buying a boat with bravo gimball housing. i have a lot of alpha stuff and no bravo. gen 1 alpha stuff. can i drop a motor with gen 1 alpha parts on the back onto this bravo inner transom? mounts look the same, but that don't mean merc didn't change height or width of mount pads. distance between mount pad and coupler is a possible consideration too. boat was orig small block B3. don't know yet if i start redoing a 454 or put a together running 350 in for the moment. but all my couplers etc are alpha and i need to know if they will work. thanks. it is a cruiser, not high perf. it will be spending it's life at 3500 rpm.

i see no reason why alpha wont fit in a bravo cutout .i put bravo gimbles in alpha cutouts all the time when i do a conversion.the only issue i see possibly is bravo has 2 top studs that the alpha does not.and that would be an easy fix as well. i would use some wooden dowel same size as the holes.dipped in resin and pound them in and cut off flush.i think the transom setup will cover them also
