502mpi merc has play in my steering
Also just noticed my power steering pump needs replacing. Is that why I have play in my steering? Is there a replacement pump I can get at NAPA? It's 1996 236 eagle. Looks original cable. Could it be in the streering wheel box or?

If it is cable over hydraulic it is probably wear in the system (cable, tiller arm; gimbal) These systems just develop play over time, could be a combination of everything. I would start by looking at where the tiller clamps to the top of the gimbal.
