What do you hang your bumpers from on 358?

In most cases I agree that midship cleat works fine but there does still seem to be hull forward of that cleat that can get damaged. A lot of times I'll tie a bumper off a dock cleat if available. But my solution when nothing else is available is a very strong suction cup with a bumper tied off it...... Seems to work well so far.....

Congrats on the new boat I assume? Was this the one for sale in Illinois, right? That did not take long to sell! Very nice boat, the old owner sent me some pictures last summer, it looked sweet! Just was not the best timing for me after my PQ burnt down, I would love that boat! I see your in Michigan, were are you going to run it at?

Many Sonic owners use the clamps that go over the gunwale rails, but that does not help you from windscreen to bow.
1) They do make suction cup fender hangers. I had some. They work OK, better on freshly waxed deck. But you can't depend on them. I would not be out of eyesight of my boat with them on. (It sucks when your suction cup affixed fender falls off, floats into shallow water, you trim up to idle in to get it; and you rupture your external steering hose. Ask me how I know that. For that reason, I'd also use a "tether" line on the fender to make sure it does not make a run for Gulf.)
2) For a longer term solution, as in overnight, or through an extended raft up or the like, affix a dock line between the mid-ship cleat and bow cleat, tightly; and hang the fender off that line.
Also, you could use use a long dock line from the mid-ship cleat to the bow cleat on the opposite side of the boat, attached with enough slack that you can tie a fender across the bow to it. Not the most attractive, but will allow you to have the fender up pretty high on the rub rail.
