Default Thoughts on gauge update.

I think it is finally time to update the VDO gauges in my 89 242. Do white face gauges in the older formulas kill the value? I'm on the fence. I tried looking for pics of some that were tastefully done but most of them changed everything else that made these have the old school appeal. Anyone have pics? Maybe I'm just overthinking this and should just get black face to keep the classic feel...

Here is a pic from my old 242, I upgraded from the old vdos that were worn out. I found a complete set of gaffrigs out of a donzi and installed them. I did change the tach and speedo when I upgraded to a GPS speedo unit when I changed to the big block and bravo setup

Here's a cpl that I like, not mine, Ive found them over the years, was gonna redo my 271 like this before I sold it,

I'm gonna redo the 303 like this, Ive seen to many people do the wrong things with these older dash's, truth is sure I'd love to have a newer fastech with white dash, but at the same time I also like the black dash's, sure there not newer, but they are also classy, and when all cleaned up there pretty sweet, I think the chrome bezels are great and make the traditional dash look even better,,

After seeing a bunch I just dont think the white face looks like a finished package. One thing i really do like is the black face with teal or chrome bezels. Im also torn on the placement of the gps.

Are people still installing speedometers along with the chartplotter/ gps? It seems redundant.

This is my current "stock" set-up.

There was a member here that took his panels out, had the remade in white with grey stripping and lettering copied the the org lines and letters, I think white gauges with chrome bezels, it was dazzling, I'll see if I can find it.

I saw some nice gauges on cpperformance.com thought they may look nice

Fishan I am adding a set of bolsters to my 242 in the spring they came out of a 272 just wondering if you had any more pics of the bolsters and how close to they are to the steering wheel that kind of stuff.

Thanks

mark

I have a few miscellaneous pics here and there but you would have to use some sort of reference point like the gunwale vinyl to locate the rear.
