We recently purchased a boat with a Johnson 300 V8 on it but the serial number plate is gone. On the silver plug under the cover has "G2275880" on it but when I try and look it up I get nothing. Ready to get the registration on this thing done, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I used to have a couple '87 V8 Johnsons and I think the identification number is on a plug on the powerhead; it looks like a freeze plug. The year will be a letter but don't remember the decoding system. Hope this helps.
