Default Recommended Drive for 850 hp Eliminator Daytona 25'

Currently running 650 hp with Bravo 1X, 1.5, Imco 2" shorty. Going up to 850 hp this winter. (Procharger) Getting mixed suggestions on what to do regarding drive. I don't overdrive the boat, however... Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks in advance

Get a different boat....non bravo based!

SCX upper SC lower prob the best compromise.

SCX upper and lower will slow you down BUT gain you peace of mind.

SCX-4 will take a lot to dial in and not many are even gaining speed. Plus expensive props.

Konrad? May not be the slippery-est drive but its bomb proof. you aint gonna break it with 850. you could probably do the swap for the cost of the SCX (or correct me if im wrong) . . . .

I wonder if Wilson could blueprint the lower. Also wonder if there any way to dry sump one . . .

I have a friend with a 24' Checkmate, 513" M3 at 900+hp. 5th season on a B1 built like a B1x. What size motor and how tight will you wind it? Torque will kill the drive. Small prop with more rpm is helpful. I have several other friends with 800+hp in cats with properly setup B1's with X gears that are holding up. If your drive is setup properly and you don't knock the teeth off the helical gears I would run what you have. A lot of it has to do with the amount of power applied as you accelerate. Too much and bingo, it's broken. Take it easy until you get it aired out and it can live.
Hope that helps.

Appreciate responses.

Current "wisdom" or lack of, is to go with IMCO SCX uppper and use my existing IMCO shorty. Hearing the SCX upper is farily bullet proof and IMCO lower should be OK. Understand the lower will now be weak link, however if it does fail much less $. Also hearing the SCX upper is 2 " shorter on X dimension vs. B1. Not sure I need any shorter, already -2", however could experiment with a spacers to confirm.

Thinking to do this now vs. summer. Assuming I go this route, will have perfect B1 X upper and lower with nosecone for sale.

Standard SCX upper is the same as b1 , SCX-4 is shorter .

I ran a 25 with 750hp for 3 seasons, blew 3 XR uppers, switch to a Bmax and no more issues.

Put an Arneson ASD-7M on and you will never have to worry about it again. It will be faster and handle better than anything else. The only drawback is props are a bit expensive
