Default 1800runsnew engines...any good?

Anyone had experience with 1800runsnew marine engines? Seems like a good price. $6400 for 502ci 435HP shipped to my door. They claim engines are new from GM powertrain division and have been marineized by them. Correct cam, brass freeze plugs, HD valve springs, 8qt oil pan. Need to ask about warranty. Spoke with John and he seemed very knowledgeable. I believe my current motors wll be ok with the extreme cold but want to have a good engine source in line for Spring incase I experience any problems. Thx Andy

Had a very bad experience with these people if they are the same shop I dealt with out of Holliston Mass.. This was about 7-8 years ago, paid for 2 of the same thing you have described, supposed to be new 502 inch, 435h.p. long blocks. Noticed when installing the second engine that there was a red "remanufactured" tag on the block. Called them, think the guys name was "JK", claimed they never said new. Found the original ad (still have it) stating "new gm based". They were willing to do nothing for me except return both for a refund minus transportation charges. Both blocks were fully dressed at this time, one was installed and it was late spring. I made the decision to take the beating,in the interest of not missing half the season, still drives me crazy! And oh yeah, don't believe them when they tell you there"correct cam" will work with stock exhaust, can you say reversion? That's the reason I now have merlin heads! BUYER BEWARE! Sorry for the rant!

ive heard of a few car guys having issues, with their engines...
i called them a number of years ago, they guy on the phone seemed pretty indifferent, he didnt want to sell me the carb they dyno'ed the engine with, i wanted the dialed in carb, for that combination. he was being an ahole about selling it carb to pan for some reason... so i went elsewhere

Had a customer about 4 years ago with twin new long blocks from them. One lasted 28 hours but really never got a chance to dig into any further than pulling the heads. One cylinder was scorn badly. Impeller look good and no signs of over heating. Was not able to check the oil by pass valves nor any blockage in the oil cooler because the boat got picked up after the bad news. We did not buy it nor install it so who knows were the fault lies.
