Default Strainer for my application

Hello all,

I am looking to install a sea pump strainer system for my Formula 252. In know my inlet / outlet size is a 1 1/4 but not sure which unit to go with? I kinda have limited space and not sure if I should use a Groco unit from Worst Marine or a U turn system.

The motor is a single 454.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Thanks

you are real limited in that size boat because the strainers need to be just below the water level. If you don't have room in front of the motor you are pretty much screwed imho

I think I might be able to use a "U" turn style strainer but yea you are right. I wanted to see what other are using.

And damn these things are expensive for what they are

I am in a cruiser these days and mud is common where I boat.. I got sick of worrying about clogging the drive pickup and switched to a transom mounted water pickup for the engine. Drive halo and removing the water tube from the gimbal to the transom allowed cooling for the drive. Just food for thought. Only cost around 250 to do myself
