First Boating Vacation a blast
#1
I would like to thank all the members on here like Cashbar, Nate5.0, ChrisK and others who were more than willing to help me and the gf with the trip. It was my first time taking a boat on vacation and my first time boating in Florida as a driver. It was a truly wonderful experience. I got to see some beautiful water and have a lot of fun with some great people. Looking forward to the next round when I come back to Florida to pick up my boat which is visiting ChrisK for a couple of months. (yes Chris, I wrote down the hours...
) Now that the experience is over, I have a few new understandings and appreciations for boating in that area. While my 36 Outlaw seems big on the rivers here, it felt small for that area and the open waters. I always thought the big 40 foot plus boats seemed overdone until now. The type of water was different from what I have been used to. Im sure as I would spend more time running there, I would get more comfortable as to what is a good running speed and in what size water. This was a first time event and I was tesitng the waters so to speak. Truly jealous of my southern boating friends. I had the same "size realization" myself down there. I knew a 30' boat wasn't huge, but in the river/lake setting, it's a nice sized boat. We went to Destin years ago, and I had to call my buddy that also had a 30' Scarab and tell him there was a huge yacht in the marina that had a 30' Scarab perched up on the rear deck as a tender!!!! Readjusted my whole way of thinking!!! haha!!!

Jason, I know where the hour meters are and can disconnect them. Ha!
Bigboat, we went to Tampa one day, Daytona another, then spent 4 days in ft lauderdale/Miami area and took a run to Gilbert's for lunch with another member biggus. All in all it was near perfect weather the whole week.

Not worried about disconnecting the hour meters. Take enough care of the boat and always have it serviced. But as Chris said, we hit Tampa Bay, Daytona then Ft. Lauderdale/Miami and Gilberts for lunch. Monday we putted up the inter coastal waterway to the Hillsboro inlet then ran back on the outside. Back home here I never have to use the tabs on my boat but I was definitely finding use for them on the open water. Just need more time running to get to know how to operate the boat in the open water. And how to store all the stuff in the cuddy so it doesn't look like a bomb went off.. lol
