Can the Jacksonville poker run be back on , well maybe ?
Dear friends
. It is my sincere passion to see these boats run . You have to admit it is a spectacle . Just look at the flashy boats and the great looking people that come to these poker run events . It is exciting. , Of recent there has been a decline in the number of participants that are going to these event s, and some events have completely disappeared from the map .
One poker run in particular that has suffered a decline over the year and is now gone is the Jacksonville poker run . This event is where I would start my hard push to promo my Boating Toys for Tots Tour .
The Jacksonville poker run is no longer on the poker run calendar . That is rather disheartening as it was/ is a great run. I would rather this event not disappear . I propose that we still have this event but perhaps in a modified state of being .
Starting from Jacksonville seems to have some logistical concerns such as dockage and the coast guard and even the Navy , so lets make a change here and have everyone start from where they are . Lets make the meet up time be at 11:30 at the Outback crab shack [ near Jacksonville] with ther ½ mile dock. There you can meet and greet share lunch and navigation information and at 1;o PM mid day we push off to go south on the river . We will do no hand holding or nose wiping . There will be no special safety provisions in place as you are expected to be responsible for yourselves and operate your boat safely within your capacity .
Then to proceed south on the river to Palatka , there are several places to stop such as Crystal Cove Marina The Quality INN and Corky Belles. . From there we would like you to go further south pass the Rail Road bridge to the Dock for the Roadheaver boys Ranch . This is the objective stop. . . We would like you to make a drive by stop at this dock a make a donation . We are looking for new clothing shampoo deodorant wallets shoes T-shirts jackets or even a cash donation . Please give as to the extent you you are comfortable . These boys of all ages are displaced and may have only Roadheaver Boys Ranch as a home. Road heaver dose the best they can to providing for their needs ,but they can surely use your help . So please be considerate everything helps.
After your Donation stop you are welcome to enjoy the river or visit some the places you saw on the way . Also one might enjoy a further trip to Silver Glenn Springs you can set your own agenda
This event may not be the Jacksonville poker run from back in those glory days but it dose give you the association and camaraderie of your fiends food fun and festivities at ZERO[ free] price ,all we ask is that you be generous with your donation for these boys .
