How do you get keepers to release

The locks are tapered with steep angle to keep them locked good on the the valve stem so, you'll need an adapter screwed into the spark plug thread and attach the compressor to keep the valve closed while using an appropriate size socket, rap on the valve lock retainer with a metal hammer to break the tension. After that just push down on the retainer/spring ,using a magnet will pull the locks out. It's also advisable to bring the piston up once the locks released in case the valve stem loose/worn in the guide so the valve wouldn't drop in.

Thanks!! I just hit the facker with a hammer, we're all good now. Looks like the exhaust springs are a little tired, but the intakes are really close to the new springs in mercury boxes I found on ebay. I may have to use these intake springs on my other motor's exhaust valves

And you with the red cig. Is that how you do it? Just pry them off w a screwdriver ?
