Hi everyone,
I am trying to figure out if I should repower my 271 or just try to sell it as is and move on to a larger boat. The engine had problems toward the end of last season with one cylinder has very low compression and the others mostly below normal. I have been looking at options for repowering or rebuilding but was also thinking of just moving to a boat with twins.

Above is a link to pictures and more details of the boat.
Thanks again

In good running condition, probably around what you are asking in the Ad, but considering the engine issues, it would be quite a bit less.
It may be worth running a cylinder leak test to see if the compression issues can be isolated to the valves. However, a valve job would cost a bit, and an 'as is' buyer would want to make it worth their while and account for any other risks, so that might be 2 or 3 X the cost of the valve job.
Those things considered could put you in the $15K range.

Thanks for the input everyone, for those prices I would probably keep it and get it repowered or build another engine. I just would take too much of a loss on the boat If I sold. Maybe without the trailer and then sell that seperately.
