I was in a 5 car wreck , I was not issued a citation. Truck is a 2012 f150 lariat 6.2l fully loaded 2wd. Its at a ford dealer, for estimation , allstate is the insurer. Dealer says its close but probably not totaled. I want the truck totaled do to the diminished value it holds now. What ammo do have if any to accomplish this?

The problem is Allstate. I had a friend that had them and he wanted his car totaled but Allstate will pay for a repair up to 80% of the car/trucks value. You need to tell the estimater you want it totaled and to make the estimate as high as possible.

Take it to a body shop where you or a friend know the owner well. Tell him what you are trying to accomplish and he can point out all kinds of stuff to help get it totaled! What ever you do, DO NOT NEGOTIATE with the adjuster on your own!

I just went through this a little over a year ago. Without the details of the damage it is hard to offer any sound advice. What I can tell you is that I was able to negotiate with my adjuster starting at $25k all the way up to $36k which is what he wrote me a check for. Good luck, don't know how bad your damage is but another friend had a similar truck to mine with similar damage and his insurance company had his truck repaired. He ran right into the back of an 18 wheeler sitting still while he was going 55 and they still didn't total it. That truck is a P.O.S. now so stick to your guns on the totalling. And don't forget about taxes when negotiating the $$$ amount, you will have to pay tax on 100% of whatever you buy since you will have no trade.
