anyone here running seven marine 557 outboards
pretty awesome looking engine set up. i like the fact its built on a gm LS platform, which means rebuilding the engine would be easy/inexpensive , and making even more power with them will no problem. the LS is a super stout alum small block... the camaro ZL 1 makes 650 hp, and there is a LOT more in there

Pretty amazing set up, just wonder what Mercury has for a response to them...!?!? If any at all.
The 7 is kind of heavy if merc could come out with less horsepower but lighter then maybe they could have a answer with less cost.
But mercury is a marketing company & would rather dribble small increments of products to keep making more money rather than giving people what they want like Seven Marine is doing.
Sevens only issue is the $$$$$$$.
I saw that 2 seven engines on a 38 fountain hit 84 mph! that is impressive & if they were more cost effective I would put them on my fountain in a heartbeat.

or would the added weight of the 3rd get it to roughly 89mph?
I gotta assume mid 90's with 3 of them on a 38 fountain.... then when the warranty is up on then turn up the boost...... Now we're talking!!!

I can't help but think if you can get 84mph out of a pair of LSA motors on a 38ft fountain in an outboard form surely this should make some people look more seriously as LS style motors as inboard replacements, would be a hell of a lot cheaper than buying 557's

some of the guys running the lsa engines on lateral g are making 800hp and 800 ft lbs of tq or more, and they idle like a stocker... with all oem parts!
i just bought a ford 9" third member that came out of a nascar car, the ring gear was back cut and lightened a BUNCH. never seen a ring gear that looked like it. the metallurgy was of a much higher caliber that you see in production stuff.
i know there are companies that have cnc programs that will cut about 130 lbs un needed metal off a bbc block. if they were to do that to these 557s, i bet they could chop 150 lbs off one with out sacrificing reliability
