Default Glasstron Carlson CVX 16 Transom

My brother In Law picked up a 1978 Glastron Carlson CVX 160 with 115 Evinrude from a neighbor with health problems for free. Although it has not been run in years, it is in incredible condition. It was a one owner boat and always covered. Yellow and gold colors with absolutely perfect upholstery. Gelcoat is decent with no scratches or damage visible, however, the metallic gelcoat will need buffed and most likely cleared. Floors are solid.

The bad part is I suspect it needs a transom. There are some cracks in line with the outboard bolts, and sounding it with a hammer I suspect we have issues. How do you go about replacing the transom on an outboard boat with the way the engine well is designed?

cool boat for sure. Kind of a complex transom on that one, multiple angles and stuff. Really no easy way to do it other then start cutting from the inside. There are methods for doing it from the outside but in the long run dont do you any good. The structure in that boat could us a bit of redesign anyway.

Go to Iboats.com there is a few outboard rebuilds there. Most have split the hull.
