Default Anyone have some history / feedback on Conquest boats from 92 (Bruce Nescher)

I just bought this boat, a 92 26' Conquest with rare open bow (no mid cabin). I've done some research and know at Bruce owned Sleekcraft up to 1994, but also started Conquest in the late 80s. Upon his death in 2000, his family sold Conquest in 2000.

So if I understand right, in 1992 Bruce owned both Sleekcraft and Conquest. If so, do you know why he owned two different companies that made very similar boats with similar molds, equipment, etc.

BTW - looking for feedback on the graphics. It is vinyl wrap that the previous owner put on about 2 years ago. I know that wraps have a 5-7 year life, so eventually I will need to peel off and start new. But in the meantime, your thoughts.

Any ideas of value? It is 270 hours on 454 with ~$3500 work recently done on engine, a new bimini, 2' swim platform, $2500 stereo, and nice interior.

Thanks

My understanding was that Bruce sold Sleekcraft in 1988-89 and started Conquest using some of the Sleekcraft molds he kept. I have serviced this boat since 1992 when it was new. It is a 32 Conquest Enforcer taken from a 36 Sleekcraft mold with 4 foot of the transom blocked off in the mold when built.

I brought this up from Phoenix to Calgary. There is currently a 92' 26' Sleekcraft locally advertised for 42k$. Yes 42k$. I know this guy is dreaming, but truly boats down in southern US are easily 30% cheaper than local.

I'm now tempted to do a quick flip and then bring down another nice boat from southern US. What I'd like though is your honest opinion of what my boat would sell for in southern US. I could then us this as a basis to figure out a realistic selling price locally, which would help me decide if I should go through the trouble. As my original post stated, it is a rare factory walk-thru 26' open bow, 2' swim platform, high end stereo, 454 bravo1 with 270 hours and ~$3000 recent receipts, new bimini, new carpets, original interior but no 80s looking and in very nice / like new shape, and a 2 year old wrap.

Thanks for all the feedback and opinions on sale value.

Thanks

Well I had a 90 28' enforcer with 35000.00 in receipts and a fresh 600hp motor with new drive and a 6000.00 stereo and brand new interior and paint and got 15000.00 after about 2 months for sale. Hope that gives you an idea of value

wow. That guy got a steal as far I'm concerned. I would have loved to get your deal. Do you have any pics of your enforcer that you sold. Sounds like you sold it low, since most 90-95 enforcers ask 10-12k$ being basically stock. Either that or I paid a bit too much for the 26' I just bought.

Thanks

I bought a new 1995 26 Sleekcraft in 1996 for less the 35 grand with trailer.

I agree the guy asking 42k$ is crazy, even in Alberta where boat p[rices are escalated.

But to put into perspective, 35k$ in 1996 is worth ~ 55k$ in today's monetary value based on purchase power (inflation) alone. So what would be a good price for a 96' today? Obviously it would be fully depreciated, but that wouldn't make a 20 year old 55k$ boat be worth nothing. I'd say it would be worth 20% (11k$) as a base, and then increase from there based on recent investment dollars?

No different than say a base hardtop 69' Camaro. It's msrp in 1969 was $2700, though in today's monetary value that would be 17k$. For a nice 69' (restored), I'd say you would be paying about 17k$. So based on this, a fully restored 92' Sleekcraft should sell for 55k$???
