Default Need info on Twin Disc 502 trannys

These are the dropped output, downangle trannys used with Kaama and some inline Arneson drives.
Were they all 1.5:1 ratio?
Is the rotation reversed in the tranny or does the engine have to be counter-rotated.
What's their max horsepower/torque rating (no longer listed in Twin Disc site).
How available are parts, I'm assuming they're discontinued.
Anyone using one with a 500+ hp or supercharged motor?
Any other practical advice would be appreciated.

I had them on my 402 formula with Kaama 's. I think They go both ways . I can't remember for sure . I had 370's and upped to 500's . I have herd of guys with 600hp+ on them .My understanding was they were designed for diesels and they just added heavier springs on the pump or clutches or something to take the higher rpm range of the gas engine . I have talked to several repair shops on them and they say they are good and the parts are availible . The specs in the manual are scarry ! I think they were rated for around 200 and something hp. but that is diesel rated with much more torque and they also rated at a lower rpm. Most seam to think they are not good to run over around 4700-4800 rpm's .I don't know if thats a fact or not . I know most people run them hard ! Most gas motor aplications should be 1.5 to1 ratio . BUT i think I have seen some with 2 to1 (Not sure). I had a munual here somewhere if I can find it . I know I have the KAama manual .It may have the info too . Let me know if I can help more . boot,
Thanks for the info. I already saw quite a bit of info from the Kaama threads. Any further info from the Twin Disc manual would be great.
BTW, I'm looking at swapping out the blown Kaamas on a cat with a good deal I found on inline ASD6s and still using the Twin Disc 502s. The motors are tall deck 540 (~575hp).
