Our local lake has become clogged up with these floating patios idling around. We used to have a lot of performance boats but now mostly 'toons. I hate 'em but I guess they have their place. The problem is that some people are now using them as their primary boat and even trailering them around. I know there are a few fast ones but most just get in the way. Just as bad as PWCs.

Toons are like SUV's.....they hold a lot of people, can do a lot of different things out on the water (fishing, cruising, tubing/towing, etc). Some toons/SUVs are blistering fast but most are just slow utility vehicles. I think manufacturers like Larson are realizing they can make huge margins on these simple boats then power them with outboards vs. expensive/maintenance heavy I/O's so the customer is happy for a long time.....win/win for all.
That Larson boat looked nice, the catch is who is going to be your buyer when the price climbs past 50-60K.....suddenly it is not just a pontoon boat but a expensive toy.

We have a toon with a 200 honda on it. Runs about 38mph and holds 18 people. We use the toon way more than my boat. The kids love it, my wife can wheel it, never breaks down, and uses hardly any gas. It's what you call stress free boating

Couldn't agree more. We have a 24' tri-toon on Norris in TN with a 150 Honda. Dogs, kids, grandparents.....keeps everyone happy. Pull it out of the slip once or twice a season and hit the toons with a pressure washer. Easy on go go juice, pulls tubes, skiers. Put the bimini up, sit in a cove in the shade, drink all day and let my 12 yr old captain us back to the marina.
