Default Twin turbo 409's that powered record holding boat?

Came across these twin turbo Chevrolet 409's from the 60's in a nearby shop. Talk about being ahead of the times. I was told these two were the only two in existence and were used to power a boat that set the record from Miami to NY (maybe in the 60/70's?) that stood for years. Anyone remember anything about the boat or these motors? Cool piece of history

Cool find. Whose shop were they in? 409 could be Walden's.

How would that work, the 2 turbochargers look like they go to a hat (assume a carb is in there), but also go to the under side of another carb. Wouldn't boost just blow out through the front carb? Am I missing something?

Mr Marine - the two turbos suck air through the carb located between the two turbochargers. The air/fuel mixture is then compressed by the turbo and forced into the manifold through the hat you make reference to.

What amazes me here is that someone made castings to go from an old Crusader type manifold to the turbochargers which tells me someone was going to try and mass produce these, why else would you do castings if you were only going to do a few race engines, someone had bigger plans when they laid this out.
