Hey guys building a 383 stroker and I know people beat this like a dead horse lol but....... With a 383 in a marine app the best we could do without buying major expensive custom pistons was 9.25 compression. We really would've preferred a little lower but everything was way lower or higher than this particular kit without getting custom. It has would products iron heads on it and an rpm intake gil manifolds and dry tails on It and roller rockers. were still trying to decide on a cam since it will be a flat tappet hydraulic. Its in a 26 foot scarab don't know much about the boat other than it looks like a former race boat at once point. It even has Kevlar49 in big decals on it so I don't think the boat will be very heavy. Anyone that's built a 383 on here any input on cam selection would be great looking at a couple different ones.

9.25 CR is pretty low already for a NA set-up. I'am sure your going to run at least 89 octane.

well if we can get it some places here on the water don't have it.

If that's your choices, I would use the Comp Xtreme set in the motor at 106,

I'm in the middle of a 383 build right now. I'm running 9.5 compression with ported, flowed Vortec heads, RPM performer air gap intake, Stainless Marine exhaust.
I contacted Bob Madera (Rmbuilder on here) and these were some of his suggestions, he made the cam for me after giving him the head specs.
Should be mid to low 400 hp & Tq, but I just wanted a dependable engine that can do a short blast occasionally.

I have built several stroker engines with great sucess. Every engine I build has one of Bob's cams. He charges so little for a custom cam, it's not worth buying an off the shelf cam IMO. And the knowledge the guy supplies is priceless.

9.45:1 with SRP pistons and 67cc Dart heads. No issues with detonation. 6.0 rods. Crower hyd roller cam (LM00483 was the part # I think). 1.5 rockers. You will be fine in the 9.2 range. My previous stock Merc SBC was 9.2 or 9.35:1 in stock trim. Never dyno'ed the motor ($$ issue).

cool deal thanks for the input guys and yeah ive talked to bob im helping someone out on this deal so just trying to get all the info I can. im trying to steer him towards bob's cam but its up to him how he spends his money.
