Default Miss Budweiser Unlimited Hyrdroplane

Miss Budweiser Unlimited Hyrdroplane

This boat has one incredible hull. It can be used for promotional purposes or for a private collector to display in his collection.

Year: 1990-1995 (approx.)
Length: 29 feet 10 inches
Width: 13 feet 6 inches
Weight: 6500 LBS (approx.) when boat is completely operational

The front Sponsons consist Nomex core, thickness is 1 ½ inches The bottom of the hull is same type of composite. It is 1 ¾ inches thick The cockpit has an F-16 jet fighter canopy, which the glass is 5/8 inches thick.
The overall review of the hull is incredible craftsmanship and superb condition The Propeller material is 13-8-mo stainless, 3 blade diameter (13 1/8 inches), pitch 26 The engine compartment, filtration compartment, rear shaft compartment has been completely refurbished and ready for the new installation of a T-55 L7C Turbine engine. Along with this the stabilizers (side wings), which hold the Main tail wing, have been completely rebuilt. The engine Cowling has had a center gravity lift ring supported with aluminum strapping and fiberglass, has been refinished and painted on the inside along with six new stainless steel, marine application locking latches. In 2011- 2012 we have approximately 150-200 pictures of doing cosmetic repairs and painting of the starboard sponson , the back of the boat, stabilizers, and engine cowling. Along with that the stabilizer bars and mounting brackets, the mounting brackets to secure the boat to the cradle, the turbine shaft housing along with the shaft and collar was just recently powder coated double nickel silver and/or gloss black. The additional cost was $7500.00. (The reasoning for doing these significant areas of the boat are when the boat is on tilt, it is the starboard sponson and back of the boat along with the stabilizers and the engine cowling that are exposed to the sun and elements of Mother Nature.
There was a new addition added to the cradle that holds the boat to the trailer. There was an extension added onto the rear of the cradle with a portable safety work station that fits into the rear along with two custom made, removable alignment rails so you can work on the stabilizers and the rear wing for final assembly. By adding this addition on it saves the waiting time at the races for an overhead crane operator to set your rear wing. It is now set up as a two-man operation. In addition, there are six twelve-inch extensions, two in the front of the cradle, two in the center of the cradle, two in the rear of the cradle. These extensions hold telescopic legs with custom casters, in addition, there were removable pin stocks installed in three key locations for removing the cradle and the boat as one unit so you could roll it in and out of work areas of your shops. The removal of the Unlimited Hydroplane with the cradle simply takes a 5000 lb Forklift with a 6-foot extension. The reasoning for this, we had to improvise since we do not own overhead cranes. Also, we would be able to take this Hydroplane off the trailer at any other specialty shop as long as they had a forklift.

INFORMATION ON THE HULL OF THIS BOAT
We have owned this Unlimited for approximately 7.5 years. Before Anheuser Busch, Inc. sold their company the sports marketing department reviewed this specific boat through their resources, both in house and outside companies. We have a letter dated 8-31-2007 from the Anheuser Busch Corporation through their legal department acknowledging that we do own a refurbished Miss Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane racing boat. In addition, we talked to a former crew chief that works at Bernie Little’s shop, he had told us unfortunately he was not with Bernie Little in those years and was unable to produce any information on our boat because Bernie Little never kept any records of boats that were produced by Ron Jones for him. When Bernie Little started producing his own racing boats records were also not kept. However, in addition to our letter, we took this boat over to Lakeland, FL for Bernie Little’s son, Joe Little to review our boat in person. He distinctly remembered our boat, but unfortunately since his father owned so many boats over the years he was unable to recall when his boat became part of their fleet. In addition, a gentleman who was a member of the Miss Budweiser Racing Team, Carl Joshlin, has personally reviewed our boat several times and distinctly remembers this boat being built at Bernie Little’s shop. The reason why is this was the only boat built with a Titanium Rudder and Titanium bracing for the shaft at the Prop location. His memory was very distinct because they never built another boat with Titanium parts because it was too hard to machine, drill, and counter sink the holes. At that time this was the only boat built with extended turbine exhaust. He verified more of this boat, we took the inspection covers off so he could verify the inside of both sponsons for the quality of craftsmanship in the structure to authenticate that this is a race boat. In addition, we removed the fuel covers for that inspection and the rear stern cover was removed for the inspection of the hull in that area. (Looking on the inside of the inspection areas the Nomex core has the year of 1995 stamped on the material right from the manufacturer)

That would make a pretty unique poker run boat.

A pic would be nice since there were many Bud hydroplanes. You can use photobucket. Could a hydroplane make a viable recreational boat? Maybe redo the cockpit to seat two.
