Default motor swap, now gauges dont work

Went from 496's to 525's and had to buy a harness adaptor to go to the newer 14 prong style. Now my water temp and oil pressure gauges don't work. Everything else works and we hooked up the computer to the motors... Good oil pressure. Must be something I'm missing in the adaptors? Both sides are doing.it. any help is appreciated!

I just went through the same thing for a customer - figured it out after I sent him all the wrong stuff

You need a dual engine rigging kit and analog gauge adapters. The 525's are all digital, they do not have analog senders. The 496's have both.

I have the 9 pin to 14 pin adaptor, shouldnt i be able to run an AGI and have those two gauges per motor work? My trim indicators work and everything else works. Or another scenario, if i bought the Livorsi digital gauges shouldnt I be able to plug and play without having to do all this harness and AGI install?

I have to tell you this was/is very confusing and the available documentation is not very helpful.

I do know that with the 9 pin adapter you do not have any of the digital signals in the dash harness. In this case I had sold my customer the standard 14 pin dash harness and an AGI. I was really embarrassed when they didn't connect

After a few calls to Mercury I was advised to use the 8M8024582 rigging kit and the 892486K04 AGI's which did work.

You would have to check with Livorsi on their gauges and also see if they have the data harness you need.

So at this point the only thing I am sure about is the 2 numbers above, hopefully there is another way to do it but even the tech guy at Mercury wasn't much help.

well i already have the 14 pin wiring harness on the engines, so it sounds like in order to run new digital gauges i would need the dash-side data cables with the 14 pin connector then? I guess my question was if i could run the oil pressure and water temp gauges seperately for now into new digital gauges that i would have to buy. Since its a digital signal and they would be new digital gauges that would work, right?

Everything is original right now so it would be going through the 9-pin plug on the boat side of things.

oil pressure is lt. blue wire #8,,,at the 9pin plug,,,the wire your looking for should pulse using a test light,,,you might have to bypass the harness and hook up a jumper wire to see if your gage works,,,the test light will always looks lit,,but will get brighter as it pulses,,,that should be your oil press and water temp singal wires,,,hope this helps,,,you can use a straight pin thur the wire as a jumper connector

If I wired smartcraft data cables one from each motor into a 6-way junction box and then into AGI boxes that would allow me to run analog gauges and have them function properly wouldnt it? Trying to avoid going to a 14 pin main harness bc the rigging in my boat is ridiculous and would hate to mess that up

I have the same problem after swapping out my 496 for a 525. I installed a new $500 wiring harness from Bam and had no power to the helm. I messed with it for quite awhile and finally put the old harness back in. I have no tach, oil pressure or temp gauges. I am relying on the built in safegards and I check oil and engine temps by hand and with an infra-red temp gun. I propped it to hit the rev limiter in ideal conditions. Sure would like to get it right sometime but no one knows how . I know that it involves a new wiring harness and AGI box and computer reflash to tell it to put out an analog signal. There still seems to be something more to it.
