I have an 08 ltz extended cab 1500 silverado. With the air bags it tows my 27' fountain fine. I want a diesel because years down the road I will get a bigger boat. Truck is paid for so I don't want to get into another payment. I only pull the boat and drive in the snow with it so very light driving.

I'm thinking about trading or selling to get a 2500. What do you guys think about this? Or should I keep? My truck has half the miles...

I can tell you from owning a fleet of Duramax's they are great, but the 200,000 mile mark is when the injectors start to go out and its a pretty expensive fix. I have two of them with over 350,000 miles and they are still going. And also it depends how far in the future you plan on getting a bigger boat. If its far off I would just keep what you have.

Unless you tow a lot, or run it a lot, diesel trucks are hard to justify economically. But once you get one, you don't want to go back. So, like 4x4 and heated seats, don't make the jump until you are prepared to always have one AND pay the stupid upcharges associated with buying and maintaining and running them. In you shoes, I'd think hard about staying with gas.

The injectors were replaced at 120k miles.
This advice is some great info! Very hard decision but it sounds like I would be better off keeping my truck. I'm going to sleep on it for a few days.

I wouldn't buy that truck with the "what if I get a bigger boat" as a motivation........205K miles.....no way for 12K!

Every engine repair is going to be 3k plus , think again unless you can fix it yourself !!!

It's tough to swallow a new boat nut and a new truck nut at the same time. I wouldn't have a primary tow vehicle with that high of mileage, especially if I didn't put those miles on it.
Go ahead with the truck upgrade, but not something that used up.

I'm bored with my truck and want to find something reliable to tow with. I'll be driving the tow vehicle less than 5k miles a year. The longer I keep my 1500, the less it will be worth. That's why I'm looking now. May be asking a lot but I want to find something equal value so I don't have a payment.

What I'm looking for is reliable, 4x4, and diesel.
