Yes it can still be bad . Look for any flat spots on the end of the vanes . They are very easy to change in those drives just make sure you lube up the new one on install . You may want to check your thermostat to make sure it's opening and free of rust .

yes it does have some flat spots and seems to have lost its stiffness it spins kind of easy .

And the blades most likely folded over as well since it is very stiff. Make sure the little hose coming off the housing has a good fit as well. A lot times we use to put a small tie wrap around it.

the cobra is easier to change than the merc, but being higher it sometimes has a harder time priming. all the more reason to have a new impeller. seals to housing a lot better.

I used to have a boat years ago wit twin cobra's, one I put in aftermarket pump kits and one would not pump...took back apart saw nothing...replaced with OEM worked great again, so the tolerance for the impellor/housing is critical...

Agree 100% about the tolerances of impellers and do not forget the housings as well especially if they a scared, that also can put your tolerances out of spec. Also with aftermarket impellers some will spin the hub done the road as the bonding agent can let go or deteriorate over time. Quality impellers are very important. and good sealing of the impeller housing as well.

Ok you must have the 7.4 L or the 7.5 L engine was thinking maybe 5.7 as it is very hard to guess what people have without all the info and model / serial #'s.
