Default Picked up my C.F.M built carb today

Picked up my carb today. I'm very happy!

C.F.M in Litchfield Ohio did all the modifications and whatnot.

Looks nice. Were you having idle troubles before? Noticed the holes drilled the butterflys

Looks good. It needs J Tubes though.

I was told they were to allow more airflow at idle without opening the throttle blades more and exposing too much transfer slot.

The engine is a 517 cu and we think the engine will like a bit more air at idle.

I'm putting together a 2001 ilmor supercat engine but detuning it for pump gas.

It's all a grand experiment so we shall see.

To be honest, I know enough about carb setup to be dangerous so I rely on dale to set a baseline for me and we will dial it in on the dyno.

Dale Cubic is one of the better carb builders. Been around for a long time too.

Carb builder says the engine will pull good idle vacuum and as such, "j" tubes can siphon fuel from the float bowls.

Actually, I thought and I may be wrong but I can't find any language in the uscg regs requiring "j" vent tubes on carburetor.

Nowhere in those regs does it require a "j" vent tube on a downdraft carburetor.

Am I missing the article?
