M3sc with 504 inter cooler. Egt probe in riser on gil exhaust. Carb box setup. Iron heads, 8:1 comp.

Where should my operating range be to and from? 800-1400??? Just curious

with the sensor mounted in your riser i would not let it go over 1200*..what happens in the cylinder is not happening that far up in the riser

I know this isn't answering your question but if it were me I'd install an A/F in that hole instead. Just like mentioned already it's too far away to really tell you anything accurately.

When we ran an EGT setup on our drag race car "back in the day", the sensor was supposed to be mounted 2" away from the header flange. I don't think it being in the riser is going to be usuable to tune with at all.

Wideband O2 is where its at

1400 at WOT would be a good limit.

I'd agree if he was measuring closer to the head as others have mentioned, but up in the riser at 1400 it won't run long enough to see that temp more than a couple times.

I believe EGT's are a reference only tool. When you have a known good tune note the EGT temps. If they change at some point you might have a problem. I know some tunes that are around 1450°F, but as stated earlier probe placement has a lot to do with it.
