Recently I came across a pantera 28 with a mercury 502 for power. cosmetically the boat looks imaculate but i`ve heard alot of bad press about pantera specifically warranty work and this would be important to me as my friend has had alot of problems with his pantera in regards to the hull forming cracks and the motor mounts pulling from the stringers. The boat that i am looking at is a sharp boat but before making the purchase i would like to get some feedback from pantera owners to find out some common problems with the boat and to hear of anyone who has had to make a warannty claim, and how it went. I also want to hear if the boati s really as fast as they say. One of my friends says no way but he doesn`t know muscle boats

Never heard of any of the problems you are describing. My boat is a 96 28' with 525SC and does 70mph. I just got it last Dec. and have not really dialed it in completely. I think its good for another 2-3 mph with some prop work. Turns a stock Bravo1 26" at 5000rpms. The only stress cracks on the boat are are on the left side of the fairing where the grab handle mounts.

Pantera is one of the stoutest boats out there. I've never heard of the problems you are describing either......motor mounts pulling out of stringers and stress cracks in the hull.
A common area for cracks in pre 1997 (I think thats the year) is in the fairing. I have a 94 with a crack on the starboard side. Newer models have gone away from the 2 piece faring and are now integrated.
Power for power, there are faster hulls. These boats are made for the rough and that's when they really start to shine.
I have twin 454's and I'm at 67 GPS. I've got a pair of 2001 502MPI's in the shop going in early September. These should get me 75+.
Post up a pic of the boat.....maybe someone here knows it.
Oh yeah, welcome to the board!

Bluethunder, Let me know which boat (S/N) you are looking @ so I can check it's history, now for your friend who has the other boat I would like his phone # so I could discuss it farther and take care of it since our boats do have lifetime warranty to the original owner and ANY PROBLEMS ARE HANDLED BY US HERE @ THE FACTORY. You state his motor mounts are pulling away from the stringers, it is hard to believe since they are bolted thru with 1/2" bolts and nuts . I would also like his s/n so that I could check its history you can reach us @305 9485600 or try my cell@305 9875600 Thanks Jo PANTERA

Hi George.
We here at Pantera have always taken pride on our workmanship to the point of giving "lifetime Warranty" to all of our original Pantera owners whether they race it or not.
After nearly 30 years of building our line of custom made boats all I can say is that we have always stood behind our product whether a customer has purchased a Pantera boat through us or from another customer.
We put a full hand laid race lamination on each boat and each boat is rigged and built as if it was a race boat.If a customer has a warranty problem we will take care of it here at the factory. All I can say is that we have hardly had any warranty work on our glass work in the last 30 years.
I encourage our customers to go out and beat the hell out of their boats, and if there is a problem we will be here for them. Dont take my word for it ask any Pantera customer.
If anyone has any questions or concerns about our line of boats they can call me here at Pantera Boats or on my cell.

Panteras are rough water boats! People that buy them use the boats in rough water. Period! I would think any roughwater boat could have some gel coat cracking/crazing but if you carefully examine any cracking there should not be evidence of the fiberglass superstructure cracking. The Pantera hull is as solid/maintenance free as any of the top custom boat builders. When it is hand laid it is strong and can take a beating. Even if there are some issues I am confident Pantera would continue to stand by their product and work with current owers.
James- Satisfied Pantera customer.
Hey Jo, I want to see some pics of the 35 center console. Bring it on!

Bluethunder, what gives? The only problem I have heard about Pantera would be on a 25 year old one that had been under water and negelected. Call Joe or Pepe, the way you posted sounds like posts we seen from (aka) tryng to hurt the competion.
