I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE COULD GIVE ME THE ADVANTAGES AND OR DISADVANTAGES OF EXTENSION BOXES MAINLY BRAVO 1, AND IS THE PRODUCT STERNJACK THE SAME THING, THANKS

The stern jack really isn't a comparable product. I believe the stern jack is limited to lower HP/speed applications that require alot of trim to run the best. The sternjack does not belong on a HP boat.

I only did a set because the motors were out and the gimbals needed to be repainted...so I didn't want to be pissed at myself for not doing them later on.

I don't really think they did much for performance as much as the shorties did.

I have the Stellings boxes, but didn't have much seat time in my boat before they were installed so I can't really say what benefits I have gained. Before they were installed I had TRS drives with trannies and only drove the boat once with those before installing Bravo One drives and adding the extension boxes at the same time. I really like them though and they DO give the business end of the boat more of a RACEY appearance. After two years of owning the boat I have done a TON of mods to it and am still setting it up! I will be adding the 2" IMCO shorties next year as well. My propshaft centers are still too deep. She's coming to me though!

I don't know if this is any help to you or not,but I have merc's new ITS on my boat. This integrates external steering and a small extension (7" I think) into one unit. The builder raised my x-dim by about 3" with the ITS and I am really happy with it so far. I don't know if it gives me any speed gains or not, but it really cleans up the transom of the boat since the steering is integrated and I like the performance that I get with the boat.

but!!!

Minus-full hydraulic steering is required : you need is anyway.I mean if you are running more than 80's hydraulic steering is almost a must.
(If you have slower boat dont spend any penny on extension boxes... my idea)

Minus-costs big $$ : land and sea has the easiest & cheapest kit.anyone can install in an hour.it is around 2500 usd each.And if you insist on not having a external hydraulic steering :this is the only kit.
