I stumbled on this on Hemmings when looking for some other info:

When we first saw the ad for this 1972 Ford LTD Country Squire station wagon for sale on Hemmings.com, we couldn’t believe our eyes either. As the description only left us wanting more, we wasted no time in calling the seller for additional information. Although he didn’t build this rig himself, he tells us that it doesn’t ride on a truck frame, but instead uses a lift kit on the original Country Squire frame to provide ample clearance for the beam axle up front and the Dana 60 (with duallies) out back. Under the hood is a 400-cu.in. V-8 (not the 390 indicated by the seller) believed to be original to the car; assuming it hasn’t been enhanced, output should be in the range of 163 horsepower. Though it’s currently not functional, the car was delivered with factory air conditioning, but the wagon’s interior has been modified to suit its show-car role. Up front, bucket seats and a console replace the wagon’s original seating, while the third row seat has been pulled for more storage room. A fuel cell replaces the original gas tank, and if the airbrushed woodgrain livery isn’t enough, the roof is topped with an airbrushed American flag. From the seller’s description:

built as tow car. Straight axle with disc brakes in front / Dana 60 with duals in back. 390 engine; wood painted on; American flag across roof.
