I saw those on the Donzi board the other day....they are nice jackets....what spec are they built to verses the offshore jacket ...do they have the capability to upright an uncontious wearer (is that a word) ? any ballistic properties ?

Are Lifeline jackets Coast Guard approved as a Type 1, 2, or 3 ?

I have heard that they have no Coast Guard approval. This would require carrying the approved type of vest.

Someone with knowledge please inform us.

Even if the High-Perf/Poker Run Jackets arent CG approved, they still offer far more protection than most PFDs.

If you have a fast boat, make sure you wear a jacket that's built for a fast boat.

BUT -- To obey the laws; Just buy a bunch of cheapie $10 CG approved PFD's at the local marina, and stick them under the back seat. The Coast Guard only cares that they are "on board". You'll be in compliance. You can still wear the "good jackets" while boating.

PS -- Check out Powerboat Magazine this month - there is a photo of the new Designer "Flamer" Poker Run Jacket by Lifeline...it's very cool.
