Default 33 Outlaw Performance Upgrade Questions

Have a 06 33 Outlaw with twin 496 mag's. Looking to see what i can do to get some ore speed out of her. What do you all recommend? Would props be a viable consideration and if so where to go?

What speed are you seeing now? How fast do you want to go? How much money are you willing to spend? How happy with the boat are you?

If your chasing a few MPH ,,,, headers are a good wake up for the 496,,,,,,if you want 5-10 or more you are better off selling the 496's and buying bigger power.,,,,,,,more then that,,,,, honestly,,,,,,buy a different hull,,,,, next will be drive issues and you don't want to go down that road !!!!

Not always true on the headers. Some motors and some boats had negligible gains back when they header swaps started getting popular.

I love the 33 Outlaws. They are great boats and run good. Mine is on rails at 100mph and we have really enjoyed owning her, sad that shes for sale.

Its normally smarter to buy a different boat that already goes faster then to modify yours. It would be best if your goal is to go faster especially in a larger boat to not have bravo drives unless you can budget more money for Arneson or Imco SCX drive upgrades. Look for a boat that already is rigged with NXT, #6, or Arneson drives.

Gotta love those Cigarettes though!

The 33 hulls are the fastest Baja's correct? I'm assuming you'd have to switch brands to get a faster hull. Is anything faster than Fountain in the 33' range?

:
The 33 and the 35 will provide the best useable performance...the 29 and 30 can be made to run but they run out of chassis

For Max speed potential in this size range, I'd go with a 33 AVS Scarab

Your 33 is a huge boat for a 33, keep that in mind when looking to make a change. First things, you will not find the cockpit space you have and more speed. The only thing close is a 386 sonic, and they are rather "slow" as well. You should really take a long look at a 35 fountain before considering a change. I think the fountain will handle the water better (people will argue but I have owned both) but it is small boat compared to what you have when it comes to freeboard, cockpit, and cabin

Others that perform well in that "size", but still they will feel smaller than what you have.

35 Nordic
32 Sunsation SSR or dominator
344 hustler
35 Twin step Fountain

Upgrade to one of these boats without feeling smaller and without breaking the bank

388 Hustler with 500efis and run in the 80's
38 Fountain 2002+ twin step semi stag and run 90+ with 525s

If you are worried about a return on your investment leave those 496s alone. Either sell them and upgrade to blue power, or keep them off to the side and return to stock when it comes time to sell.

If you wish to stay with Baja, you already own the right hull

Active Thunder 32's are about the same size and that hull with some decent power will fly! There is one out of florida with I believe 800 a side that does north of 115.
