Default Detroit, Motor City International Offshore Championships

VOLUNTEERS are needed for the September 5, 6, & 7 International Offshore Powerboat Championships on the Detroit River.

We need 3 Sweep Boats to tow in any boat that has experienced a mechanical breakdown or if there is an accident on the racecourse for Sunday September 7, race day. We also need a couple of boats for Saturday, September 6, while testing is being done from 11:AM to 4:PM.

We need some Patrol boats for Saturday the 6th, from 11:AM to
4:PM, while testing is going on. We need Patrol boats for Sunday September the 7th, for race day.

This race has been put together in a short amount of time and we need your help as support boats for this race to make it happen and for the safety of the racers.

This area has a long history, starting with the Motor City, the birthplace, where molten metal that was forged to make some incredible engines and cars and home to General Motors, Ford's and Chrysler's. Many over the years have had Great Grandfathers, Grandfathers, fathers, sons and daughters working at these plants and Great Grandmothers, Grandmothers and mothers during the Second World War.

It is the home of the Detroit Gold Cup races, the Belle Isle Grand Prix, the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise, the NASCAR Races at MIS. Skaterfest on the Detroit River and now the Detroit, International Offshore Championships on the Detroit River in front of Downtown Detroit and Downtown Windsor, it can't get any better than that.

I know that there are many Offshore Powerboaters around and boaters in general and what a great way to be part of this fantastic Event with such a rich history around here. This is the beginning is something that is good for Detroit, Windsor and Offshore Powerboat Racing. I really don't know of any other races that give back to the spectators like OPA does with FREE admission to the Race Village and FREE to watch some great racing with family and friends along the beautiful Detroit River and with many thanks going to all the sponsors as well. I'm getting a little choked up just thinking about what these spectators
are about to see for the first time for many.

But, we need you to volunteer to make this happen and to give some of your time to make this event something special that we can all be proud of and enjoy for a long time to come. It is crucial that we get some volunteers for Patrol Boats and Sweep Boats. So if you think that you can donate some of your time for this fantastic event in which we have an opportunity, to be part of and watch.

Please contact me by email: [email protected] or call me at (519)-944-0228, we need your help and time is ticking down for this event in the Motor City. Moderaters can you put a sticky on this Post?

Hi Brad!

No problem, if the Dive Boats are filled, we still need Patrol Boats and Sweeper Boats for the race, they are all good positions for viewing the race. I believe that there will be 5 Patrol Boats on both sides of the Detroit River, so viewing will be great for those boats as well as the tow boats. Andy G. the Dive Leader is going this weekend to work another race but we need everyones help to make this race in the Motor City a big success. I look forward to seeing all the Offshore Powerboater's stepping up for this race and volunteer. Thanks for your interest in this race Brad, it is appreciated.

Thank you Bill for volunteering to be a Patrol Boat and thank you Butch for volunteering to be a Sweeper Boat for the Detroit Motor City International Offshore Powerboat Race. It is appreciated by all of us including the spectators on both sides of the Detroit River which will be able to bring their family and friends down to the river to watch a great race for Free. Thanks to the Sponsor, and all the volunteers who have stepped up to generously donated their time and fuel. I am still holding out hope that there are some powerboaters from OSO in this area that will volunteer there time. We still need Sweeper Boats for Sunday and Saturday along with Patrol Boats. After reading the OSO Forums for years and seeing all the Offshore Powerboat guys posting, I would of thought that you would jump for the chance to be part of this and volunteer. I'm still holding out hope that I will hear from some of you, but time is ticking and we need to have a Team in place for the race. Andy Breschuk, [email protected]

Hey Guy's, Andy could really use a little help here as we kinda threw this in his lap and all I can tell you all is I will be cooking a little up in Detroit with a few of my friends if that helps getting you to give us a hand. Either way, thank you for the consideration. See you all there, Augie
