Default Latham Steering Leak

I have the standard Latham steering "blue" filter. and it leaks. The 3/8 fitting is screwed in but I think the quick release leaks. Where can I get a brass fitting that will work with this system? More importantly, will a normal replacement be safe. I assume it isnt special.

Not sure about the particular QR fitting but I'm nearly positive McMaster-Carr or any industrial supply house will have a suitable replacement.
