The 1976 Magnum Sport Project is moving right along. The glass work is turning out above expectations. So far completed new transom, New stringers and bulk heads from helm back. New full width dash panel. Wind screen mod and lowered cockpit sole with extra set of stringers almost complete. Single 540 with Imco drive was the final choice with fuel tank behind bolster seat. The boat was raced almost since new and I am keeping the boat with its heritage..

Thanks Hallj, Talking to Mel was on the top of my build list. Read a lot about Mel and Vixen. Good stuff. I have built a few myself and came up with a pretty good formula with the 27 singles. I think Brownie is going to have a good turnout in the next year or two from Lake County Ohio. Not counting my build there are two Maltese, three 27 Cigarette and one P&D builds going on as we speak within ten miles apart. The builds are great news and great for our passion of bringing back the vintage performance offshore machines. Lake County Ohio has a long history of building and rigging quality offshore racing machines. The past few years racing has left the south shore of Lake Erie but all the quality experience handed down is still here. The good news is most of them racers and some quality new comers are still restoring and building those vintage offshore machines and most of them are stronger and faster with new technology. Best of all three of them are Magnums.

Hi Bud, Most of the under 30 class singles chine walk over 80. My problem is I like to get to the chine walk speed fast without smelling burnt gear lube the next day. Not so much looking for top speed. I am more or less looking for the torque out of turns and through chop and swells. That chine walk speed can use up the kids college fund pretty fast.

Thanks H2O, That is how she will still look. I am aiming at Andy's mod look except the new hatch goes from the transom straight to the back of the lower bolster seat and I will keep the life line with the molded in wind screen.

Your work looks very good. On the formerly Goumada/ Grumpy Old Men Mag I believe the inner strakes were lengthened keeping it more stable with that big single big block.. Grumpy was one more great Mag out of the Eastlake Ohio area.

H2O, I think you are referring to extending the engine stringers forward of the front of engine bulkhead. I have a set of five inch that I am laying up into the hull between the engine bulkhead and the under dash bulkhead. This will make up for cutting down the center stringer that was cut down when lowering the floor. Also more floor support. I also have some gussets that will be glassed in on the outside of the engine bulkhead and outer stringer cross section. I took a break to repair the cut out section on the starboard transom deck. Every time I looked at the new transom the cut out section would catch my eye.
