Default Sizing carburetors

Ok, been struggling with some fuel issues on my boat. Looking at replacing the carb. It currently has a 1050 proform center body. I found a ProSystem modified 950 and I am wondering if it is big enough.

684hp @ 6250rpm

Carb calc says that 950 may be low

That is what I have heard. I wonder if I should just drop my carb off to him and let him straighten it out.
