Have the opportunity to buy older Cigarette with 525sc's. Less than 300 hrs on both. Don't know anything about them. Any help/info would be appreciated. Huber trans. with TRS drives. Reliable package? HP?

I believe they were a bone stock merc 420HP 454, with a 174 B&M blower mounted on them. Decent setup and ran ok, but can be much improved on with modern parts. Huber made a good transmission. TRS drives ok on a top gun with that power, maybe a little more, but not much more than 575-600hp. At 300 hours on those engines, I'd consider a rebuild in the near future.

That would be a merc 525sc. Hawk 525's are 420's with a b&m 174. I talked to bud lorrow about them one time when I was at the cig factory.
The pair I had were gen 5 454's 088 heads, crane rockers, 2399 speed pro pistons, 7/16 rods, 174 blower with a Holley 9022 carb.
The merc 525 was 7.5:1 with the 177 blower

Have had 0 issues with my hawk 525s. Someone put B&M 250's & Dom 1050's on them before i purchased boat. This season i think i am going to switch to roller cam setup since i have them out of the boat for transom repair.

If they are do for top ends or soon will be, then I'd say swap to a roller set up. If not, I'd leave them alone. I picked up about 150rpms at WOT and better midrange accelleration.
