Hi!
have anyone of you made a comparison between the old style all synthetic gear oil and the new oil Merc Racing introduced in 2013?
"Our all-new gear lube replaces a synthetic lube previously used on our high end surface drives. It is used in all gearcases built at Mercury Racing. Outboard gearcases include Fleet Master, Torque Master and Sport Master, IV SSM and VI SSM. Sterndrive gearcases include the dry-sump NXT1, NXT6 and M8 as well as Bravo One XR Sport Masters."7
As I see my Verado 350 Sci is not mentioned here, but since the engine is in Merc Racing product line, it should have been. What do you think? Something to consider to get the extra mph?
Cheeers and thanks, Toffen

The oil feels good smells good and seems to work good but stuff still breaks. The oil is not the problem the crap design and products revolving around the bravo platform still stink. If the products were as good as the oil we would all be fartin in silk.

Mercruiser High performance gear oil the bluish green color is not a synthetic nor a synthetic blend gear oil at all. Of course the additives in any oil is but the base . base stocks of it is not. This gear oil has 3 main additives / anti wear components among others best the top 3 are Moly, Antimony and something else that I can not remember at this time but will look in my notes at some point.
At one time it was a very good gear oil but now compared to what else is on the market it is just average. One of the reasons it was better suited years ago compared to currently is because the amount of Antimony has been decreased a lot.
Antimony is very toxic to wild life, fish and the waterways. Keep in mind gear oil can leak out especially with Bravo III's (problem seal) so hence the reduction of the additive Antimony.
Merc newest gear oil 1.5 years ago to market can be used in outboards (Verado's) along with any other Mercruiser outdrive.s
