Default 1978 Python 24' project boat. What is this boat worth?

I am looking for a 24 x 7 that doesnt have an engine and found this one on CL. The transom and stringer replacement is something that I would be comfortable doing myself. I looked at the boat and it has the old late 60's early 70's #2 drive with a speedmaster lower. The trailer does look rough. I have a twin turbo SBC that I would want to put into it. and use on Lake St Clair. What is something like this really worth? I know most boats are worth more in parts. The guy is asking $1200.

I bought this boat a few months ago for the engine, it has a soft transom and engine stringers, bulkheads and forward stringers seam fine. Also missing are the gauges and the front and rear seats. Still has the speedmaster outdrive and hydraulic steering.

It had a big block Chevy, the exhaust manifolds and bell housing go with the boat.

If you do not want the trailer I will knock off $250.00

Would consider possible trades........14ft aluminum boat, bang, bang hunting items, etc.

1200 is fair for a project like that.

You would be further ahead buying a good solid one for 5 or 6 thousand that needs a motor instead of this one..

You will have 1000 -1500 in materials for the glass plus another 1000 in paint for the exterior if you do it yourself.

Than another 2000 grand minumum for an interior since you need new buckets and this is if you are crafty.

Another grand for some cheap gauges and other etc.

Most likely will need a gas tank that could be another 700

Hell i would spend 10,000 on a good clean boat that needs nothing but an engine
instead..

It is worth the price, I just hope you understand the work that goes into doing stringers and transom. I am doing one in my garage and i have already been burned out twice working on that POS and its still not finished. What I thought was involved and what is really involved are two totally different things. Next time around it will go easier now that i wont have to over think everything but if you never have done it, you will see what I am talking about. Was that really a #2 on the back? It looks like a Sternpowr drive?

Yes the drive is suppose to be a #2. I guess that sternpowr drives have the lower bullet that bolts together and this is not like that. The back of the drive does say kiekhaefer on the back of it.

There was a guy on here from Grand Haven that had a 24 by 7 I think Excalibur that he had redone but it got hit and had a small crack in it that he was selling a while back.

Looked really nice and had a brand new interior but needed some structural work

I think it was more than a little crack, but its fiberglass so fixable.
