Default 28 heat mcob speeds

What speeds and props are ya'll running in these mid cabins?? Are they slower than the closed bows?? Trying to nail down a prop selection for a 97 model with a warmed over 454 mag. I have a 24p 4bl and a 25p 3 blade. The speed is the same the 4 bl is great on handling. My tach is being sketchy at the moment so I have no science to share Feels like it could pull a bigger prop but I won't be certain till the tach is repaired...

Are you hitting the rev limiter? If you are then a larger prop will probably work well. Go up a size. What motor are you running and at what elevation. It also sounds like you have a non stepped hull which will be slower than the stepped versions.

Sorry just saw that you have a 454 mag... What does warmed over 454 mean? Additional performance parts?

.060 over flat tops, Dart intake, 850 demon carb , 731 crane cam and stainless marine exhaust. If the rev limiter works i'm not hittin it Started from scratch on this set up and having trouble getting this carb dialed in. Running out of weather to test and tune. I hated to post without my tach working but was just curious. I can't get over how floaty these things are! The bow is definitely out of the water...

The 502 Mags and 496 Mag HOs 420ish HP, run in the 65 range with a 24 4 blade Bravo 1.
The pre-step pad vees have more bow lift because of the lower X dimension and hull.
They were also laid up lighter.
FYI,
Steve

I was gonna call and pick your brain Steve o but I got busy yesterday. The boat seems to like a lot of trim also.... My testing got cut short Monday, had to tow in a boatload of old timers Don't know if I was paying it forward or paying it back but it had to be done !

I hope the flat top part is a typo.

Most flat tops on a 454 with a typical 118cc combustion chamber is around 8:1 or less.
