Default Savage Hatch Ram Help Needed

Any chance anyone knows how much the engine hatch weighs? I've purchased one of these (link below) last September which started to operate very slowly after 9 months. (My hunch is the armature started to fail.) Livorsi kindly replaced it even though they couldn't reproduce the issue in the shop. Yeah, ran fine unloaded. The replacement lasted 1.5 lifts and completely failed. Nothing, nada, wouldn't even move at all. I used to have a aluminum one which worked perfect ever since I owned the boat, but couldn't source the exact one anymore.

The hatch total weight including working load couldn't be 500lbs correct?

Thanks in advance, Andy

Andy,

No way 500lbs. I had mine off last spring and 2 of us handled it. I'd say 200-250lbs.

Keep in mind when it is in the closed position the ram probably is on an angle, not pushing straight up. So the starting weight is skewed.

I wish this still worked. I'd measure current. With no nameplate it really doesn't mean much though. I suspect imported products quality issues.

What's the brand of choice? Loosing faith in Marine products lately.

I just replaced my hatch ram on my 32 last Summer with that exact one. It lifts it fine and 50% faster that the old one ever did.
I have not had any issues with mine.

I put in a hydraulic cylinder from Hardin and added a trim pump to power it. It works great and the hatch goes a lot higher than before.
