Default 89 Formula 357 Restoration

I have always liked the larger SR1 designs. I finally had the opportunity to buy one that had low hours and was a solid candidate to restore. It is painted with a true candy apple design and, in most opinions, looks amazing in the sunshine. After many months of work it's coming to completion. It has been updated to Bravo drives and what should be "relatively" efficient high torque engines. It has been designed for solid fast cruising and a comfortable ride in rough waters with upgraded 380 k-planes. It will be finished with a new aluminum swim platform and Stainless Marine long risers. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Yes I purchased the hull and trailer from Ron. Very nice guy and well worth the trip to pick it up. The engines that were originally built for this boat are outrageous 632's and are still for sale in classifieds I think. Unfortunately they weren't in the original budget.

I'm using 468's with 420 based bottom ends and custom head and cam set ups. HP in the 480 range but torque is closer to 550 and should be quite durable. They were built by Speed n Sport.

The boat will never compete with most of the modern set ups for top speed but it's a good ride in rough seas and shouldn't break the bank, although the restoration has been a long and not inexpensive road.
