There has been much talk about are 3's really 3's?? or "honest they were 6s but the camera makes them look like 2's."
I propose the following formula for straight bottom V hulls. (I do not have a formula for stepped hulls as the whole concept of spinning if turning the wheel 5/32nd's of an inch at a speed greater than 7.6 mph scares me)
Thus in a straight hull at 60 mph in flat water, a 1 foot wave gives a "wheeeee" feeling for less than 1 second
A 2 foot wave gives a "wheeee" feeling for less than 2 seconds
A 6' wave gives a "wheeeee" feeling of less than 6 seconds
Any wave giving a wheee feeling of greater than 15 seconds while the spousal unit on board runs the risk of severe physical, psychological and financial injury.
However,
A wave giving a "wheee" feeling of greater than 15 seconds while a male friend with grease under his fingernails and fiberglass itch is in board will actually be rewarded with cheers. high fives, and free beer once you tie up to the bar,

Lol.......I like it.
Although my boat doesn't even come out of the water in 2s.
So no weeeeeeee.
Anyways what fun would that be if oso waves were the actual height. Some guys tell fish stories. OSO tells air / wave height stories!

I got stuck in a nasty flash flood thunderstorm a bunch of years ago. I had to pull off my trip and anchor till it passed. After about 30 min. Of golf ball size rain drops the sun followed directly behind it. The wind was not blowing at all. So I pulled anchor and started my trek back home. When I rounded the breakwater I was surrounded by beautiful 3 1/2 ' rollers. No chop. They wher like glass lined rollers. I gad that weeeee! Feeling every second. Laughing my ars off the whole trip. It was worth the wetness and beating I took before I found safe cove to hide out in. It was one of my favorite trips to date.

I had a girl once, I purposefully tried to scare. couldnt do it, she just kept smilling. Later when I was telling her she had major balls, she told me with a completely straight face "Not really, I just know in my heart you would never do anything to hurt me, so why would I be scared??"
She now teaches philosphy at Harvard. Should never have let that one go.....
