Anybody have any tips on what to look at on a used BW velvet drive trans to tell if it is good or bad with it removed from the boat? I need to get one for my boat since I think the case on mine is bad.

id smell the fluid for one . take a look at it also

The difference in cost between a eBay salvage scrapper and someone here that likely ran it prior is about the cost of 2 tanks of gas in a suburban . Or 2 ford cel mis diagnosis at your local dealer .or maybe nil. .otherwise run it on stand behind a motor and look at line pressure on the 3 port plugs .if you want the Trs style plug and play I know I would let mine go for less than if it was ready for a BBC mastercraft . Or a v drive flatty hot rod
