Default Deck and remotes

If you have a deck with wired remotes, whats the brand/model and how happy are you with it?

Boat is a new to me 06 Nordic Heat MCOB with a system that was done about 4 years ago, so I am told. Head unit is a Clarion CMD5 with a wired remote helm and stern. (6) ~6" clarion speakers with aux tweaters throughout the interior and (4) 12" subs under the rear bench. 2 amps, cant remember the specs

Currently, Im trying to tackle the head unit. Its wired for IPOD control, but on the various units I have tested, it will accept audio from the IPOD, but it will not control it. Web says this is a common issue. I know it will read MP3 cds, but to be honest its been a long long time since I messed with that. As I recall, I can't really put 100s of songs on a cd? My last boat was setup for USB and it worked very well for me. Is there anything I am missing here with the capabilities of this deck?

To get the USB capability I would have to move up to a newer Clarion deck which all use a newer style wired remote than what I have. At that point, there is not necessarily any reason to stick Clarion since I would be replacing everything. I also do not own an IPOD/Iphone, so I would have to spend some money just to get basic functionality.

Might want to give up on usb and just install a bluetooth module from Wetsounds, I use it much more than my usb. Cost is about 49.00 then you can pair it with your phone as you would in your car, instant Pandora or anything else you would like to stream from your phone or tablet.

I still have ADD and want to change songs/stations. Would need the remote at the stern, does the wetsounds stuff have that capability?

You control the songs ect with your phone or the blue tooth module. I guess you could mount it to stern. You still have control of sound volume and other functions thru your wired remotes. I don't use my remotes much now that I have that.

The Wet Sounds WW-BT-VC has a female aux input. You connect it to the aux input of your CMD5, then connect switched power/ground. Once the device is connected, play music. You can control the music streaming from the audio device through the head unit, so you can use the wired remotes for volume and track up/down. You can also use the BT-VC to control volume and tracks, but its easier with the device or head unit. I sell tons of these for side by sides, golf carts, etc.
