Going to be working on the transom this winter and was wondering if I should raise the X dimension while I was doing the work and if so, how much.

I would PM Dan, OSO username Team Archer and ask his opinion. I can't think of anyone that knows the Scarab 26 hull (which is what is under your 28 Excel deck) better. Be sure to know what power and speeds you are aiming for also as that will be important info.
