i know these stock 350 mags i have do not have oil coolers. my question is is there a cheap kit i can buy that just bolts on somehow.

or do i have to jimmy something up for these motors.

im leaving all the extrenals stock as much as posible im building these to look stock but i would like to find a way to run thes motors hard and the oil not get to hot.

do you have a remote oil filter housing, or is the oil filter in the stock location (screws into the engine block)?

When I had my 383s built my builder put in some 454 oil coolers and she's running great with them.

When I built my stroker we oversized the oil cooler but put a oil thermostat . This way when your babying it it wouldn't run to cold. But when you really honk on it it never goes over 190. It's a really nice set up. I'll post a pic[IMG][/IMG]

you could use a 454 oil cooler as long as you have a remote oil filter adaptor, it will just take a couple of new oil lines and a cooler. you can probably find a oil cooler online for cheap, and if you find some where that makes hydraulic hoses they can make your oil lines with whatever size and type of fitting you want to use. also will need to change/make the water supply hoses for the oil cooler, it doesn't have to be the preformed merc hoses as long as the hoses are the right diameter and do not kink when you route them. if you don't have a remote oil filter assembly I would ask around on here (OSO) I'm sure someone has one laying around their shop that they are tired of tripping on. the water supply hoses going to the oil cooler need to be a good quailty hose that has a little stiffness to it.

yes thanks for the help and imput. my other question is i was told i should run my oil temp up to 215 220 but never let it go much higher then that is that a corect statement

(drew555) I've been thinking about running a thermostatic set up on mine as well. where are the oil thermostats located in your set up? are they located at the oil cooler itself?

i would think that is a little hot. i build diesel engines and if I'm not wrong the oil will start coking at those temperatures. coking is oil breaking down.
