Default Confused or just Plain Dumb

looking to get some insight as I'm confused. I work hard to support a family, like all of us. and with any extra money we spend on our boat and supplies. I have seen videos of young guys with real nice boats, big power, tricked out tow rigs, living large out on what I assume is the Colorado river area. So how do they afford to do this? Are there a lot of great paying jobs in that area for young people? is there a lot of old money at play? or do these young folks not have homes to pay for, or food, insurance, utilities, taxes, kids, etc. or are they getting the cash from other means???(right?). I sure hope that they are not putting all their income into boating alone and not planning for the future. So help me understand because I need to find the secret.

Well, you can-

1) Be born rich, best case scenario
2) Live well beyond on your means, most likely
3) Be very well employed, legal or not
4) Be downright lucky, ref #1

I fall into cat 3. I have a great job, I've already paid off all my large debts (student loans). I have no large financial burdens. I live with a roommate, I max out my 401k, I eat like a king, I drive a Raptor, and I have no wives/kids/exes to pay for. Not bad for 28.

If it's Colorado maybe they sell weed. Per Drugs Inc that's a pretty decent business to be in.

Wayyyy to many factors to answer that. Best I can say is don't worry what others have and enjoy what you do have.

I agree that a young hot boater is probably part of the family business, or employed in a 6 figure job, take your pick. I don't think many people in the performance boat world are living beyond their means as what bank are they getting a loan from to buy a boat without great credit and a hefty down payment in the first place. they had money at some point to buy the boat.

Most people I know that have what id refer to as "baller status" boats/rigs are self made and own successful companies in some type of niche market. Others that have "nice boats and rigs" usually own smaller successful companies such as construction or something of the such. Then there's those that have decent paying jobs (100k plus a year) and make sh!t work to get into something they've always wanted.

Through out all my years around the offshore boating scene I have also seen those that are doing something illegal to get what they want. The thing about these guys is A) most know they're up to something shady and B) they're not around for long. Crime pays short term, long term is very rare.
