I grew up watching B 52's fly over our town. They would do practice bombing runs over Bay Shore(Bay Harbor) , they did this with electronic bombing simulation. I don't think very many people on Offshoreonly would remember that.

Remember seeing the B-52s doing low level fly overs on us back when we use to cruise the the Great Lakes during the summers in my dads 48 foot sailboat during the 70s.

The Coast Guard cutter Woodbine that is mentioned in the article was stationed in Grand Haven until the late 70s when it was cut up for scrap. Sad days, used to go on a tour of it every year during Coast Guard Festival back in the old days when they would put on a waterskii show that rivaled the ones I saw in Cypress Gardens.
